The Cost-Efficient Facts About LED Strip Lights

You’ve probably seen LED strips on store shelves or advertisements. They’re a great way to decorate your home without replacing all of your wall lights. LED, or light emitting diodes, are increasingly popular for use in lighting products and applications. If you’re thinking about replacing your old lighting, consider an LED strip to cut down on your costs. An LED light will last longer than the average light and they’re much more energy efficient.

The first thing to think about when looking for an LED strip is where you plan to put it. You’ll want to install it near a window to get the maximum light exposure. It can also be installed along a walkway or patio for added light along the way. LED strips are available in different widths to match different situations. A narrow strip might be perfect for a narrow hallway or enclosed entryway, while a wider strip might be better suited to an open area like a patio or wide door.

LED lights provide plenty of lighting for any room of your home. They’re especially effective at illuminating walkways or kitchen areas. If your house is foreclosed on, you can still afford LED strips. They don’t take up much space, and you won’t have to replace the bulbs like you would with incandescent bulbs. With so many different colors to choose from, you’re sure to find the right design to suit your needs.

The cost of LEDs has dropped dramatically over the past few years. You can now buy single units for well under $100. That’s much less than what they cost just a few years ago. If you compare those prices to the cost of incandescent light bulbs, you can see why LEDs are becoming such a favorite. Incandescent lights are energy inefficient and harder to replace.

LEDs also heat up. When you first install one, you might want to add a small fan to the front of the strip to help circulate the warm air that is produced. This can add to the cost, but it is an easy way to quickly heat up the area where the light will be installed. Over time, you’ll reduce this cost because the strip itself will become less energy efficient and only require a small amount of cooling during operation.

Another option is to have the strip professionally installed. While the professional may charge more, you have a good chance of finding an experienced installer in your area. He will be able to measure your windows and ensure that the light will fit. Plus, since he knows the ins and outs of your home, he can help you decide which type of light would be best for your needs.

You can also find strips that are not LED. These lights use fluorescent tubes filled with argon, which is similar to the gases that make up kerosene. Neon lights are more expensive to run and harder to maintain. If you’re not planning on installing the light yourself, it might be worth the slightly higher cost to go with a standard fluorescent strip light.

Once you’ve decided on the type of strip light you’d like, you need to think about how you plan to position them. All Orion strip lights have “power” ports at the bottom of each strip. To use these power ports, you simply need to connect a standard outlet to the bottom of the strip. You should probably not try to install the strips without taking them out of the wall. The heat they produce is not strong enough to get a good fit.
